I am trying to understand why my stop-limit fails to work. Image 1 shows a 610 tick chart with the placed order before the market shoots through the 59.20 level. Image 2 shows a 34 tick chart with the market piercing through the stop level, but failing to activate the limit order. Strange, but as the market retraces to the upside, then a market order is carried out @59.16 even though the limit order is set for 59.18 as can be seen in image 3. The limit order @59.18 is never carried out. I have also tried various settings in which I set the offset to -1 in the same scenario in which the stop was set to 59.19 and the limit to 59.18. I might understand the limit could not be activated because the stop would be activated higher than the limit, but in image 4 the retracement clearly touches 59.19, but fails to activate the limit. Please advise. Just another note and maybe has some pertinence to the main issue, but I have also had instances in which the MIT order failed as well. 1. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1445561732170.png 2. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1445562580218.png 3. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1445562710920.png 4. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1445563412205.png Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-10-23 01:32:00

Potentially (as you are on sim/replay) - you might be running into the situation described in this post. replay Fill Related question |

Refer to the documentation here about how Stop-Limit orders are filled: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TradeSimulation.php#HowOrdersAreFilled Also this statement is incorrect according to the order line in the image: then a market order is carried out @59.16 even though the limit order is set for 59.18 as can be seen in image 3.
The fill price is exactly at the limit price you set of 59.16. And also it was not a market order but a limit order. There is no problem here. For a Stop-Limit order, on the order line the price in parentheses is the Limit price.
