Hi, Fairly new to SC while ive been using IB for quite sometime now. I would really appreciate a rundown of how to fully connect IB brokerage servies to SC while using SC spreadsheet system for automated trading features. I currently have a strategy in place with formulas active within said SC spreadsheet for trading. From here on how would I connect to SC platform to run active option trades through IB. Thanks again |

Here are the instructions to use Interactive Brokers: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/IB.php#SetupInstructions There is nothing special about performing automated trading with Interactive Brokers. The documentation for the Spreadsheet System for Trading study applies no matter what Trading service you are using. But if you want to trade options, that is more complicated. So did you want to trade an option but have the automated trading system based upon a chart of the underlying symbol? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. The basic method is to set the options symbol into Chart >> Chart Settings >> Trade and Current Quote Symbol. This is documented here: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ChartSettings.html#TradeAndCurrentQuoteSymbol It is important to test this though to make sure it is going to work properly for your particular use case. Great, the typical startegy involves buying ITM directional option plays. For instance if AAPL is trading at 110.49 we would be purchasing the 110 strike option call/put or if AAPL was trading at 110.51 we would be purchasing the 111 strike call/put. Hopefully this is rather easy to instill within the automation aspect. Thanks |

On another similar note, when using the step trail stop would there be a way to implement percentages based on option prices rather than ticks? Thank again

In response to post #7, this can be done by setting the Trade and Current Quote Symbol in Chart Settings to the option symbol. One thing to be aware of, is the order prices need to be prices relative to the option prices. If you are using market orders, this is not a concern. Under usual conditions, the percentage calculations for Attached Order offsets would be based upon the option price. Once you set the Trade Symbol in Chart Settings, go to Window >> Current Quote Window and you should see the option prices there. All of this will require testing to confirm that it does work properly. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. In response to post #10, refer to this section here about Integration with Trading Services: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#Integration This option symbol appears correct: AAPL-OPT-20150115-110-C-SMART-100-USD Although this one is expired. It must not have a forward slash in front of it. Did you see that somewhere in the documentation? If so, where? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. If you want to get a chart of the options symbol itself, you would use that symbol in Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol.

Would using continuous futures contract, allow for option contracts to be rolled by the changing of price action intraday along with change in overall day to day trading. for instance if aapl moves from 110 to 111 intraday would the contract status also move with price?
