Hi - I seek to be able to enter buy and sell limit orders below current price and sell orders above price but not a 'buy' order above price (i.e. a manual buy stop if short) - even though I can enter a 'sell' limit order below current price. maybe I am misunderstanding the order types but when I go short I am unable to enter a 'sell' stop limit above current price. this is regardless whether I am long or short - I cannot add a buy limit order above price (I can a sell limit order below if short) Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-09-18 14:54:07

You cannot enter a sell stop above the market or a buy stop below the market. These are inherently not valid. cannot add a buy limit order above price
What happens when you do?We are not totally sure what you are really asking about here. When you submit an order, whatever the result of that is, it is based upon the order type and the trading service you are using. This is not something we have any control over. You really need to educate yourself about order types. Refer to: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_OrderTypes.html This is very basic stuff that you should understand. Thanks for the link. What is confusing is I cannot, if I am short manually add a buy stop (limit or otherwise) order above price (when I click the price nothing happens). BUT If I am long I am able to add a sell stop order below price.

If you are referring to the Buy and Sell columns on the Chart/Trade DOM, then you may not have those configured properly. Refer to the documentation here for this: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_GlobalTradeSettings.html#ChartDOMSettings Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
