When I am in Trade Simulation and have entered a trade the system locks up when (data feed works but cursor is locked and I can't exit, save, go to any of the tools. I have to kill the process and lose some graphics) Locks up when I click on the Trade tool menu and tried to select Chart Trade Settings to make a change. This has happened at other times in other lesser versions of the software. |

OK so it sounds like the dialog window is not displaying when you select Trade >> Chart Trade Settings. In this case, press the Escape key on the keyboard to exit from this condition. Generally when you notice this, you are running too many programs on the system. This is an operating system level problem. The Dialog window displays and I am able to click on my selection (In this case Trade-Chart Trade Settings)...but as soon as I do, the software locks me out. The data feed works, but when I move the cursor around the screen to click on anything, I just get a beep from the mouse when I click. I can toggle to other software on my computer and it works fine (Excel, etc). It is not a RAM issue. to resolve the issue I end the Sierra Chart process using Task Manager (WIndows 7). and reboot Sierra charts...the prior trade still shows with the DOM data profit/loss etc. |

We are still not fully understanding this. So you are saying that you see the Chart Trade Settings window? It is not an issue relating to the RAM memory. It is an operating system level problem. Yes, the Trade menu displays when I click on it. When I click on Chart Trade Settings the system freezes me out. I just tried it again, but I went to General Settings, Chart Trade Settings, same things happens. But I can go to any other menu selection and things work fine.....Tools, Tools Config, Data Trade Service Settings, Chart, Chart Settings, etc.....only seems to freeze with the Chart Trade Settings stuff.

I just further verified the issue. I rebooted, etc....and whenever I click on Chart Trade Settings, the system freezes me out...no other menu selection does this, they all operate fine. Could it be that I don't have Chart Trade set to on for that given chart? I have multiple charts in a chartbook with only two allowed for Chart Trade entries.

Doesn't seem to matter whether the chart I go to is set to Chart Trade On or not...if I try to use Chart Trade Settings, from any menu, it locks up the software...the cursor can move and the data feed works but I can't access anything else. It seems to be isolated to this menu selection. This doesn't occur with general trade Settings

OK what you are describing is exactly what we thought when we responded in our first post. The Chart Trade Settings dialog window is not displaying. Press the Escape key when this happens. You will then be able to interact with Sierra Chart. As far as why the Chart Trade Settings Window does not display, usually this is an operating system level problem. It almost certainly is in this case. We do not have any other reports of this. What version of Windows are you running? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Hitting ESC doesn't do anything, systme stays locked....Running Windows 7. What's strange is this is the ONLY menu selection where this event happens. Why would it be on OP Sys problem for this one menu selection, and no other? |

Interesting: I pulled your ChartbookExample chartbook (EURSD) and tried the Chart Trade Settings and things worked fine. The chartbook I am using came from a modified/developed chartbook when I was on Sierra Charts at Transact. Must be something in the coding for this chartbook that was saved and put in the SC data folder when I loaded this version of SC. |

We will have to use remote assistance to look into this. Make sure your telephone number is set here: https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=ManageAccountInfo We will want to restart Sierra Chart without any charts open and see if there is still a problem when selecting Trade >> Chart Trade Settings. I have actually seen something similar (multiple times) when choosing "edit global symbol settings" from the chart settings window. The dialog either takes forever to appear or gets into a weird state where I have to escape out of it. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough times that I've noticed it.

OK, this is an operating system level problem as we have said. It is not something we have control over.
