I upgraded from V984 to V986 and can't connect to Rithmic. Below is the error message. I am able to connect to Rithmic on another machine with an older SC version.

I downgraded to V983 and was able to connect to Rithmic. I reinstalled V986 and again I could not connect to Rithmic, so I went back to 983.

Are you using Windows XP? Rithmic has discontinued support for XP. You must be on Windows 7 or higher.

You will have to upgrade to continue to use Rithmic.

OK, that is the problem. I am still using XP. Thanks. But as I mentioned earlier I am able to connect to Rithmic using XP with V983 or lower. I don't understand this.

Also, if I upgrade windows should I use 7 or 8? I recall in some prior thread where you recommended Windows 7 over 8.

We understand this, but the latest version of Sierra Chart uses the supported Rithmic libraries. Previously we were using unsupported xp libraries because otherwise Sierra Chart would not start. Now that the connection to Rithmic occurs within a separate process, we can use the supported libraries.

Definitely use Windows 7. Stay far far far away from Windows 8. This is our opinion but it is good advice especially if you're still on XP. We do believe Windows 8 is going to put Microsoft out of business.

We are going to use the unsupported XP libraries from Rithmic. We want to continue to maintain support for XP when using Rithmic. We had another user have a problem as well.

We do not know why Rithmic does not want to support XP any longer. At least they do make those libraries still available.

Will put out a new release in about 2 hours.
