I cannot get the alerts or the change color feature to work. Eg on a 3 min chart I have an extending rectangle on the 6E future drawn at say 1.0875 to 1.0890. If price is currently at 1.0870 and then goes up to 1.0876 I would like the rectangle to change color (eg to TC2 as I have set it) and an alert to be fired. For the alert I have used the subgraph value Last and I have tried each of "crossing", "crossing or equal to" and "equal to" but nothing ever happens. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks. PS this looks an incredibly useful feature if I could ever get it to work |

We have tested the Alert settings on the Extending Rectangle and they work properly. Check the Alerts Manager for the alert message to make sure you are getting that: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_AlertsManager.html Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I don't quite understand the answer here. Can I just check per my question above if I have an extending rectangle at 1.98750 to 1.0890 with current price at 1.0870 what type of value alert SYNTAX should I use (the alert is ON - I have enabled it both via right click and alternately by Manage Chart Drawings). - ie should it be "crossing", "crossing or equal" etc etc. The alert is active but is not being triggered. Because it is a rectangle and not a line it is not crystal clear to me the alert formula syntax to be used. If price is currently under the rectangle and I want to notified when it touches or enters the rectangle I had assumed "crossing or equal to" was the correct syntax. However, I get confused because crossing could also mean that price has to cross the entire lower and upper boundary to be triggered. This is not explained clearly in the documentation and I cannot get the alert to trigger. That is the only reason I am asking the question. |

Refer to the attached Chart Drawing Alert settings for this. Here is an example: Chart Drawing Alert: XAUUSD 1 Min #32, Rectangle, Last (1090.76) Crossing from above line #5 (1092.15) | Alert: Alert 1 In the case of a rectangle drawing which has a top and bottom, both the top and bottom of the rectangle are checked separately. Thank you. I have finally figured out why my alerts never work. It was simply because by default I had my extending rectangles set as DOUBLE EXTEND. This meant that Sierra believed that the alert criteria had already triggered (in the past) so it would not trigger again. It's a shame as I prefer the visual appearance of the "band" given by double extend but at least I now know how to trigger a rectangle alert |

Not totally sure about this because the way that a Chart Drawing Alert works is that the values of the Chart Drawing are compared to the last bar values. We will check on this. This should be resolved in the next version.
