I've created a trading keyboard that works great w/ futures or forex. Thank you Sierra Chart team for making the best trading software out there. Here is a pic. All its missing (imo) is the ability to change the quoteboard symbols with a hotkey. There is a key that controls if the trading keys are on or off as well.

What a great keyboard, nice work. Could you share how you made this?

Yes, very cool.

Can you shed some light as to how I can build one?

Yes, it's pretty easy, you don't build anything. It's just a Point of Sale keyboard you would see in a grocery store. Use the hotkeys Sierra Chart has and bind them to the keys on the keyboard. Also create macros for more complex scenarios. I rather wish I knew more (anything..) about programming because I want to do this : http://www.keyboardtrader.com/keyboard_4.html with Sierra Chart. My keyboard is like the ugly bastard stepchild compared to these, although it is outstanding for charting/drawing.

That is so cool....I never realized that you could just plug in a 2nd keyboard and hotkey away.

Thanks for this insight.

Could you share the name/model, or link on where to purchase one with a layout like this, and with a key lock? And also any info on how you customized the keys to look like this?

It's a Logic Controls KB5000. The keys are just printed paper under the keycaps. I have 2 programmers working on software and am talking to a few keyboard companies to make some prototypes for a few platforms right now actually. It will be much better than using hotkeys/macros and a pos keyboard.

Thank you for the link.

Edit: they are charging fees per trade for a keyboard? a monthly sub.? for a keyboard that should be no more then 50$. transactional pricing? excel connectivity? that was a good laugh. thank you again.

I wonder which trader sees a good deal in such a thing.

a custom keyboard is pretty straight forward to build out of cherry switches arranged in whatever pattern you want. then you can use either an arduino or dissect a regular keyboard for the electronics to use in your custom board. lots of info on the internet about ..building custom keyboards

I use a custom keyboard in Sierra Chart to deploy and manage trading bots.

Beyond using a customized keyboard you can also use a touch screen monitor in Sierra Chart chart... Touchscreens are fully supported by Sierra Chart

@ NotIll

I use one of these, fitted with re-legendable key-caps.
http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-falcon-20-rgb-custom-programmable-mini-macropad-mechanical-keyboard-assembled.html

Easy setup and combines well with SC, given that you can set hotkeys for such a variety of operations.

@TapeReader Thank you for the info, Decent options seem to be available.

@User907968 Also thanks for this. I was wondering and was planning to ask SC support if these would work with SC. Which option did you buy if you mind sharing? I ask as I dont really understand all those options.

Thanks again guys, this will mean much for me on the long run as I stalk trades alot and use my mouse arm way too much which couses strains.

No problem, re- options, I chose the following (at the link previously posted):

Switches = Cherry MX RGB Silent
O-rings Installation = Yes

Also, I tried out Cherry MX RGB Brown switches, but found that they were too noisy/clicky.

For re-legendable key-caps, something like these:

I don't remember where I actually sourced mine.

Anyone who has used a few thoughts between Logic Controls POS kb, Cherry LPOS/SPOS kb, cheap programmable gaming keypads, and the expensive Keyboard Trader keyboards?

Portable Mini keypad, effectively save desktop space. You can connect the keypad and a 104-key keyboard with the same computer at the same time, they will not interfere with each other.
