I want to make a scan of all the symbols on my watch list that meet a condition. I use alerts and have set up the watch list. The questions is: Do I have to run the scan each time or as the condition is met the alerts are going to sound. Thanks in advanced! PV |

You will have to run the scan each time you want to monitor for the particular alert condition among all those symbols. Either that or you need a chart open for each symbol and you need the alert condition set up on each chart. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. One more thing about this: I uploaded the symbol list and run the scan using a simple alert on the study, when I run it, I get the alerts but not the symbol on where it happen http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1433975952908.png As you can see the source does not show the symbols, how do you think I can solve the problem when scanning? Thanks. |

This is because you apparently are using a custom chart. You need to make sure the sc.GraphName for that study which is the main price graph, includes the symbol.

not sure what do you mean. Just to clarify this is a chart with a custom study with an alert on the alert tabs...any other insight?

The main price graph is not the standard price graph. There is some study which has been set to be the main price graph and its name does not contain the symbol. This is obvious to us just by looking at the image of the chart. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. What you is true if I have just 1 symbol on my chart, but the case is that I am running a scanner on the S&P500 stocks. That is where the problem lies..when scanning. I look all over your documentation and there is no standard price graph, could you please send me the link. Thanks. |

Is the study that you use as the main price graph, a Sierra Chart built-in study? If so which one?

If you have set a Short Name on that study, remove the Short Name.
