Hello,

I am having problems with one of the charts in my chartbook. I often switch between M30 and H4 on this chart, and it takes several times longer to complete this operation than another similar chart in the same chartbook. Both charts have the exact same settings, studies, etc. I have set the 'Use number of days to load' and 'Adjust proportional with bar period' settings on both charts to the same. I have verified on several timeframes that the 'Days to load' changes proportionally and properly on both charts. I know this issue is due to something I changed, as it wasn't always like this. But I have been unable to find the problem.

The only difference I see is that the 'Date Range In File' goes back farther in the chart which experiencing performance issues. The date spans farther back than it should, I think, given the 'days to load' setting is only 336 days on the H4 and the 'Data Range in File' goes back to May 2013. I have tried to 'Delete all Data and download' several times, however it continues to fetch all data back to May 2013. I suspect this is the problem as it likely needs to read the entire file before displaying the chart, but I can't confirm this nor find out how to stop sierrachart from caching so much data in the on-disk file, or how to get sierrachart to seek to the proper location in the file to avoid having to read the whole thing from disk every time I switch timeframe.

Help!

The large data file should not matter.

Make sure you disable antivirus/anti-malware software on the computer or prevent them from scanning files with a "scid" extension.

However, you can control the amount of data downloaded through this setting:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_DataSourceSettings.html#MaxHistoricalIntradayDaysToDownload

After changing this setting, go to the Intraday chart and select Delete All Data and Download. This only needs to be done once per symbol.
