How does one set up a london based futures contract for proper DST/BST offset so the 8am london open is properly displayed in a US MST timezone especially after DST and BST are a few weeks apart? I am in US MST...so for a london based contract do I goto symbol settings/intraday and set session times to London(+0)/BST(+1) and then inside a chart goto chartsettings/advanced settings/time zone = denver? |

This is a confusing request. And what do you mean by this? so the 8am london open is properly displayed
In general, we will not get involved with this kind of support request because of the complexities and not understanding exactly what the user wants, and recommend the chart be set to the time zone of the market being traded. Here are the instructions: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TimeZone.html#DifferentTimeZoneForCharts It is not critical how the Session Times are set in Symbol Settings. Just make sure they are correct in the chart itself. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Ok sorry for the lack of clarity... I want to have the correct 8am London(+0)/BST(+1) Brent open during the couple weeks when US is on DST and London is still on GMT. US went to DST on March 8 and London goes to BST on March 29. I am based in MST and have the SC feed setup on MST. I have attached a pic of what it confusing me...you can see how the 2 charts are the same after the DST change on Mar8 but prior to they are different. |

You really must set the time zone in the chart to the time zone of the symbol of the chart. Otherwise, you will never get the opening time correct for every day. There simply is no way around this at all. OK I will do that going forward for non-US based contracts... I did notice something odd using: "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings" = Denver (MST -7/ MDT-6) Brent I have "Global Settings >> Symbol Settings >> Intraday tab" = London (+0 GMT/+1 BST) with a 800am open then using 'London (+0 GMT/+1 BST)' in the "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings-Timezone" and "Apply intraday session times to intraday chart" the session times display the MST equivalent of 2am start instead of 8am |
