I'm using a spreadsheet system for trading (old spreadsheets). I have Trade>auto trade enabled checked, Trade>Chart trade mode on checked, Trade>Trade simulation mode on checked, and have set the spreadsheet settings as needed. I get no trades from the spreadsheet system. I have also tried the default spreadsheet settings as well. The spreadsheet formula does produce and display (col K or M) a positive number (limit order value), a mark is put on my chart, but no order is generated. Can you help me with this problem. If I am connected to my live feed (Rithmic) in simulated mode or the SC Historical, makes no difference. In the past I have used spreadsheet auto trade extensively (a year ago or so), but not recently until this attempt. I must be over-looking something but cannot determine exactly what it is. Thanks.

The Trade >> Trade Service Log should indicate why the signals are being ignored. What do you see? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. The Trade>Activity log is blank or where there is text, all (0) amounts and no trades or filled orders (for this test period). Everything seems to be fine except the trades are not being placed. My trade window manages any stops and the number of contracts is listed there as well. I loaded another auto trade spreadsheet that I used a year or so ago that worked fine then, but it also does not generate trades now, does just the same as a the new sheet. Since I used the older spreadsheet I did install a new system (last April) with more monitors, but can't imagine it would be system related. I currently trade manually from the chart or by placing orders from the chart trade window with no problems. Thanks ! |

Do you see any problems with my directory structure: C:\SierraChart\Data\2015 Trading Charts The .cht, .scwbf, .twconfig, and .scid files are located in the \2015 Trading Charts directory that is within the SierraChart Data directory. SierraChart folders and files are on the C drive (ssd). Everything seems to be fine except auto trading. The auto trade spreadsheet makes no entries in the Trade>Activity log but manual trades are logged as normal. Thanks. |

We made a mistake. We meant the Trade >> Trade Service Log. Check it to see if there any messages at the time you expect signals. And also review the information here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SystemsAlerts.php#IgnoredSignals No problems with your folder structure. No messages in Trade>Service Log. have read the material you linked a number of times. I run Sierra Chart as a standard user (windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit). Sierra chart is not installed in program directory. It is installed normally. I also tried running Sierra chart as administrator with no changes or difference in outcome. Again, I have tried the default auto trade spreadsheet settings as well as the most logical settings related to my specific trading needs......again, no difference. The formula in col K displays the limit price to buy, an arrow is put on the screen but no alert sound and no trade. Thanks. As a matter of interest, I ran Sierra chart from my laptop and exact same situation. No trades, all else the same. Last time I had an auto trade spreadsheet (working) was on my laptop with XP. I upgraded laptop (to Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit) same time as installing new desktop system (last April) and now neither pc will run the auto trade spreadsheet so that trades are made.

OK.....The problem is in the Sierra3.cfg file. That file as well as the other related files (for moving Sierra) were backed up in a folder in XP and copied into Sierra after upgrade to Win 7. There seems to be a conflict. I am still investigating further and will advise. Please let me know what you have learned regarding problems after an XP to Win 7 upgrade. Thanks.

It does not make any sense that the problem is related to Sierra3.cfg. This issue is very separate from the global configuration file. While some related settings are stored in there, once they are set properly based on what you see in the user interface, the file or other settings in the file are irrelevant. There are no problems with Sierra Chart after updating from XP to Windows 7. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I've got the system working. It was solved by removing Sierra Chart completely and re-installing so as to start with a clean configuration. The auto trading works as it did previously and as it should. It did seem to be the files I mentioned previously, but you're the expert. Good Day.
