Hi,
I am using SC with GFDL. For some time now I see the data lagging, at times by six to seven minutes. When I disconnect and reconnect( or re-start SC) it gets OK but again gradually the lag increases.
I asked GFDL support and they say that there is no problem at there end.
I also use IB simultaneously with SC and have no problems with it.

There really is not anything we can do about a data lagging problem especially when it is this severe. This would mean that the data is not getting through to your system quickly enough and we do not know why. This is the relevant help topic for this subject:
Prices / Data Falling Behind

If you just started noticing this problem, then try to determine what might be causing it. The problem could be anywhere. With the Global Data Feeds server, the network connection, the ISP.

Hey turnbull - are you still using SC with GFDL or have moved on?
Can you please suggest me any alternative setup as everything seems to be prehistoric after using SC and especially Ninjatrader is downright pathetic!!

Hi, I am still using SC With GFDL and quite happy with the set up specially in real time mode.
For live trading I use SC with Interactive Brokers

We have spoken with neotradeanalytics.com and they may be adding support for the DTC Protocol:
http://dtcprotocol.org/

Which means that Sierra Chart at some point will be compatible with that data service.

Thanks Sierra Charts!

Hi turnbull - Thanks for the reply!

But how are you managing with GFDL which now a days has become even worse with 3-4 times disconnection for 5-15 mins (as told by couple of friends who still use it as they don't have any choice and can't go back to NT or anything else after using SC!!)

IB remains the only choice but their data quality is really bad. Do you see a stark difference b/w the bid/ask based charts/studies produced by GFDL & IB data? OR its manageable??

GFDL is better of the lot. Others are just worthless. You are right, GFDL connection has been a bit erratic recently. But there is no choice really.
As you know both IB and GFDL give snapshots data and not tick by tick. Gfdl claims 1 second snap shots and IB is little longer. Bid ask value is bound to differ but I believe it is OK for descretionery traders like me. I am sure it is not suitable for mechanical traders.
By the way, GFDL is not that bad with SC I dont know with other platforms.
GFDL does not provide back adjusted contracts on SC . I hv raised this issue but still not resolved. Also there is no tick back fill in GFDL.

I got your point.

But if you and others too would raise this disconnection issue to GFDL like day in day out, shameless, irresponsible & incapable GFDL would be forced to solve it. Imagine they are not able to solve it since last 1 year as if they are building a space shuttle or want the NASA scientists to help them!!

There are so many sitting on the fence to subscribe to SC once this problem is resolved!
