I'm learning how to use the charts for live trading and have a query. From reading the documentation, I gathered that I need to do 2 things - 1. ensure live mode is selected under Global >> Data/Trade Service Settings where I input my broker username 2. enable chart trade mode and check/uncheck sim mode on the charts. My query is regarding #1. Do I always have to switch the settings between live and sim live in the Data/Trade Service window every time I want to go live or sim or can I just leave this on Live mode permanently and only uncheck/check sim mode in the chart to either trade live or in sim. My concern is that if I leave the global settings on Live Mode and have sim mode enabled on the charts, live orders can be sent when Im in Sim mode? On the same note, Im assuming if I uncheck sim mode on the charts (go live) but have sim live enabled on the global settings, then orders will be sent to the sim server? Please clarify thanks. 2. The specific command to enable trade simulation mode and disable it is Trade >>Trade Simulation Mode On You can leave the connection to the trading service to the live server always and use Sierra Chart Trade Simulation Mode for simulated trading. My concern is that if I leave the global settings on Live Mode and have sim mode enabled on the charts, live orders can be sent when Im in Sim mode? Non-simulated orders will not be sent to your trading service when Trade >>Trade Simulation Mode On is checked. On the same note, Im assuming if I uncheck sim mode on the charts (go live) but have sim live enabled on the global settings, then orders will be sent to the sim server? Yes.
