Hi there,

I am trying to decide the right market data to use, and it seems based on description that SC's tick data package provides the same data as IQFeed.

Can you clarify the difference and tradeoff between the two options please?

Thank you for help in advance!

Hi,

The major reason I switched from IQFeed to Sierra Chart CME real-time feed is cost.

In September 2013, I paid about US$108 per month for IQFeed's Globex real-time data and market depth (one connection). Last year, I paid US$55 per month to Sierra Chart for the same features (real-time data and market depth for Globex futures with two connections).

Good luck.

For what markets do you need data for?

Advantages of Sierra Chart Data Feed over IQ Feed:

-More accurate Bid Traded Volume and Ask Traded Volume for CME markets
-Multiple years of historical tick by tick data
-Very rapid historical data delivery
-Lower cost.
-Direct efficient connection to server rather than an intermediate client program.
-Very low latency.
-Servers are located in Chicago data center

Disadvantages:
While the data feed does have network redundancy, the level of redundancy may not be as much as IQ Feed. We do not control the network connectivity, this is managed by Barchart. There have been a couple of interruptions in the past but in each of these cases, necessary corrective measures were taken to prevent them from occurring again.

Thank you moonmist. I am also trying to justify the cost difference to see if IQFeed offers some unkown advantages. Guess I will stick to SC Tick data for now too unless some defects are observed on the road.

Cheers.
