SC: I have my CL chart set to automatically rollover futures symbol based upon volume. The CL rolled to the Z contract and now I have no data on my chart from friday 10/17/14. My chart goes from 10/16/14 at midnight to 10/19/14 at 18:00 hours. The time set for this chart is from 18:00 to 17:15. These are eastern times. Also, when the rollover happened your software changed my chart start time from 18:00 where it was set to 00:00? Why is this happening? Why is there no data on the CL chart from the prior CLX4 symbol for 10/17/14? I experienced this on two seperate computers, so it is not something on this one computer. Thanks. |

Regards to Session Times, refer to this section here about this: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SessionTimes.php#AutomaticallySetting For the missing data in the chart, update Sierra Chart to latest release with Help >> Download Prerelease. After the update re-download the data following these instructions here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html#ReDownloading Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I know how to set the sessions time, SC. The problem is when your software did the automatic rollover, it changed my session start time from 18:00:00 to 00:00:00? Why? that is your software doing that on the auto roll. I tried to redownload per your insturction in the prior message and the data still is not on the chart for 10/17/14? It was there on friday under the CLX4 symbol but now that the volume rollover is to CLZ4 there is no data for the whole day on friday. My charts go from 10/16/14 to 10/19/14? What happened to the data from the 17th? Again, I followed the insturctions you posted above and still no data. As far as the current version, it is version 1202 that I am using. My job is to trade, not to download data because the auto rollover did not handle the file correctly, in my opinion. I will await your instruction. Please try to duplicate the problem before you respond, so you can see what is going on. Thanks for your help. |

This section here answers the question: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SessionTimes.php#AutomaticallySetting We need to see an image of the chart. Enable Chart >> Show Rollover Dates. Set the chart bars to 1 hour per bar. This is important. After this post an image showing the missing data by following these instructions: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#Image We have done a test and we do not see a problem: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1413826642593.png When you re-downloaded the data, what exactly did you do? We referred you to these instructions: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html#ReDownloading Please state the steps that you followed. We need to know specifically what you did. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. When I redownloaded the chart, it came back with the same data as before. still no data for 10/17/14? Here is a screenshot of the chart showing the vertical line at 23:40:40 for 10/16/14. This is the last data I have for the old CLX4 contract. http://screencast.com/t/RbaPPPId Now let me post the vertical line for the very next bar in my chart after the auto rolloever based on volume. http://screencast.com/t/fzvt25LT0qw Note the VERY NEXT BAR has a start time of 18:00:00 for 10/19/14. Thus, there is no data on the chart for 10/17/14 for CL? Why? Thanks. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-10-20 18:08:43

Also SC, while I am on the support board, when are you going to give us the ability to run the compact tool values window horizontally with only two or three rows so we can put it at the top of a chart, instead of just as it is now which is vertically. It would take up much less space on a trader's screen(s), horizontally, i think. I know some others have also asked about this and you had said you have it on the list to add. It has been months now. Any chance you will be adding that soon? Thanks. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-10-20 18:08:16

In order for us to help you, it is important that you follow our instructions exactly. Once again we refer you to post #4 above. Please look it over again and provide us the information requested. We cannot accept images posted any other way than is documented. What you have given in post #5 still does not answer our questions. We also need to know what Data or Trading service you are using? Please let us know. At this point we have no idea because we do not show any log into Sierra Chart using the account you have logged into the support board with. Also confirm what version of Sierra Chart you are running. It should be 1203. You could be affected by a Windows bug which affects the decimal point delimiter. We have to see with the status of the development is for the feature request in post #6. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I am an Infinity customer using the transact feed. Here is the chart image you requested. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1413834494690.png I just downloaded version 1203 and then did the edit >?delete all data and download and selected way back to the CLUZ and forward and I still don't have any data on the chart for 10/17/14. Let me know if you can duplicate the problem. Also, if i edit >> edit/download data and try to delete and download data from current position to end, I can only move the slider at the bottom of the screen back to the start of file which reads 2014-10-19 and 18:00:00:000. It will not let me go back an further since there is no data, I assume? In other words, it shows the start of the CLZ4 at 2014-10-19 and 18:00:00:000 and the end of CLX4 at 10/16/14 and the end time of midnight eastern. Why is this happening? Thanks. Did you enable Chart >>Show Rollover Dates. When you select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download make sure you press No at the first prompt. you wrote: Did you enable Chart >>Show Rollover Dates yes, I sure did, the first time you requested it. you wrote: When you select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download make sure you press No at the first prompt. I have done that about 3 times and I still do not have any data for 10/17 on my chart. Also, I am tried everything you told me to on two seperate computers and I do not have data on either computer. How do I correct this? Is there some type of sierra charts software issue that is causing this? Every other software that I have on my two computers runs ok? |

OK this is not making sense. This kind of problem should not exist so there must be something going on which we are not aware of in your case. Select Help >> Accept Remote Assistance on the menu. We need you to start an account support ticket here: https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=SupportTickets Give us the ID number and password from the team viewer program that is started, so we can connect your system and see what the problem is. I might try this step tomorrow if I get some time after trading. For now, I am done for the evening. |

Actually, we have a better way to approach this. We have prepared new instructions to clear the existing data by deleting data files. Manually deleting each file worked by following the instructions provided. Why do you think this happened? I hope you will make the changes to your software so that it is not necessary to delete the files manually every time there is a rollover. Any chance you will be adding that soon? Thanks again, SC. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-10-21 17:51:16

We have done a thorough review of this, and on the latest version, this should not occur. The reason is when a full download occurs the Intraday data files are truncated. So we do not have an explanation , however we do not know exactly what you did and saw either. There must be some detail which we are not aware of. If you are not noticing the missing Intraday data now, it is too late to make a determination as to what the problem was. The option for the Tool Values Window is Global Settings >>General Settings >> General 3 >>Use Horizontal Compact Tool Values Window Layout.
