SC Engineers, I am with the OP on this one. I do not agree with your statement in post #2 "... This fundamentally just does not make sense. ..."

Of course it makes sense (for this study, maybe not other studies).

The study is the calculation of the DAILY range, if you include today while today is in progress then it is no longer a study of the average DAILY range as it includes a part completed day; eg:

Mon range 25
Tue range 35
Wed range 15
Thur range 2 (day has only being going say 2 hours)

Your study will give an ADR(3) of 17.3
OP and my study will give an ADR(3) of 25

I know which answer I think is more representative of the average DAILY range!

You say if you added Displacement to this study, you should do it to all studies. But ADR and ATR are special situations as they are a DAILY study, plus I believe from memory you do have some studies with a displacement option.

To the OP:

I have raised this before with SC: ATR & ADR studies when used with Daily Range Bar study - displacement
As you can see their solution was to add it to the Daily Range Bands study. This might work for you. It suited my needs. But I do agree with you the ADR and ATR studies logically should have a displacement option.
