One of our clients would like us to provide real-time data from the Hong Kong futures exchange. So we contacted the Hong Kong exchange, and had a look at their publicly posted information about the application process and the requirements. The vendor fees, are not inexpensive but would be affordable in this particular case due to the number of users. However, they have a requirement that the paid-up share capital needs to be 1,000,000 USD. What for? We do not have that kind of share capital in this business. This is the kind of nonsense that exists in this industry. Or take the Brazilian BMF exchange. They charge higher a exchange fee if you are a non-Brazilian resident. We have never heard of any exchange in the world doing that. So now they put this burden on all of the data providers to enforce this ridiculous policy.
