This is a notice of a known issue with Sierra Chart's interface to the Rithmic trading platform service.

The Rithmic service uses what is known as an in-process API component. Our policy on those is here:

We no longer support these and at the time we originally interfaced to Rithmic, we did not favor this connection model but we did not have a firm policy against those components at that time.

There is an issue which has arisen where some users when connecting to Rithmic from Sierra Chart, Sierra Chart will freeze.

Even though the connection to Rithmic uses a bridge program precisely to avoid this kind of problem apparently the Windows function to start the bridge process also freezes.

We believe the freezing is due to an incompatibility with the static libraries that Sierra Chart is using and the Rithmic library files.

We do not know how to solve this easily and it is not something we will struggle with because of all of the reasons given in help topic 76:

If you encounter this problem, you will need to use another supported trading service, or use some program other than Sierra Chart. We only have about four reports of this issue over the last five months. So most users do not encounter it.

And perhaps it might go away once we update the Visual C++ version we are using. We do not know.

Rithmic is not favored because of the connection model and also due to the 2 nondescriptive error messages returned when there is a connection problem to the Rithmic system. This is our perspective on it and each end-users perspective are very different. We are not saying Rithmic is not good, but just from a support perspective from us, it is not favored.

The purpose of this notice is that if you encounter this problem, we have no solution to it. We are not saying it is a Rithmic issue because it is not. It is a compatibility issue. And this precisely goes to why the whole concept of an in process API component simply does not make any sense as we have stressed so clearly in help topic 76.

We also are going to be developing a complete solution with CTS T4 which will consist of the following:
-Sierra Chart
-Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. So the data feed is provided by us and not by CTS. This gives us complete control over it allows us to provide reliable service and address any issues when they arise.
-CTS order routing through a central FIX connection that we manage.
-Full server-side OCO and Bracket orders.
-$.10 per contract.
-Support for multiple connections
-The CTS T4 front-end will be excluded.
-Use any broker or clearing firm that supports CTS.

The expected monthly cost will be about 60 USD a month. So this is not for everybody but it will be a solid solution. As we get more users using the solution, we expect the price can come down.

When you consider that Rithmic charges 25USD a month and Sierra Chart is about 25 a month, this is a good offering. You also need to consider that the $.10 per contract is very attractive.

As far as when this will be available, we hope it will be sometime in May or June. Our first priority is to release a similar model for FXCM and LMAX.

Please do not ask us when the above CTS solution will be available because we cannot make a promise as to when and there could be unexpected complications preventing its release or it could be different than expected.
