Al, You need to do it vs a variable lookback period ( 1,2,3 ... to all days on the chart) that is user selected. I did one of these and I think I put it on the board a while back but the ease of varying the lookback is likely to be quite important to your users. Watch out for half day holidays like we have for HSI or your averages are messed up. I kept a count of non-zero volumes as my proxy for holidays but I suspect you could do better.
