I just got Sierra and when I try to connect to TWS I get this message "Technical Notice: To be able to connect to Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation from this version of Sierra Chart, requires TWS version 9392 or higher. It can be downloaded from here". But I have the latest TWS version 949.3c April 22. I contacted Interactive Brokers and the chat copy is below. I then tried port 7497 instead of 7496 but got the same Sierra message. ChatSys: This chat is associated with ticket #431364. Please record this number for use in future inquiries. You are currently in room 'Technical Assistance'. Angel P: Hello, this is 'Angel P'. How may I help you? tomjp183: I'm trying to connect Sierra Charts to TWS for the first time. Sierra gives me the error message "Technical Notice: To be able to connect to Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation from this version of Sierra Chart, requires TWS version 9392 or higher. It can be downloaded from here. But I have the latest TWS 949.3c April 22. I think I have the right things checked off in API settings. Angel P: in TWS go to Edit > Global Configurations > API > Settings, do you have "Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients" checked? tomjp183: yes Angel P: where it states "Socket Port" what is specified? is it set to 7496? tomjp183: yes Angel P: and below "Trusted IP Address" do you have anything specified? tomjp183: 127.0.0.1 Angel P: it seems you are all set within TWS. Besides Sierra Charts, do you use any other third party software to connect to TWS? Like Ninja Trader, MultiCharts, enSign... etc? tomjp183: No. Angel P: it seems like your all set from IB's end. In this case we would have to advise to contact Sierra Charts for additional assistance. They can further investigate it on there end. Just note, it is feasible you could have another program using port 7496, as a test we would advise clients to try changing the port, say to 7497. If you change it in TWS then make sure in Sierra Charts you change it to the same 7497 and try connecting again. tomjp183: ok I'll try that. thanks, bye |
