I can load VIX through IB's platform but not SierraChart. Maybe something is wrong with the drop down selection box in the available symbols? Does something need to be corrected between SierraChart and IB? Here's the message IB gave me regarding the issue.

I'm working on getting my charting setup in Sierracharts. I'd like to be able to use IB's data for the charts. I did get the charting software to connect to IB's data but it only lets me see stocks. It won't let me see VIX on it for some reason. I can see VIX on IB"s TraderWorkStati on but not in SierraCharts.

IB does not require any additional permissions when using an API Program to request market data. If you have no issues loading real time data for VIX Futures directly in TWS this confirms your Account has all the required permissions.

In most cases customers using an API Program and unable to load data but have no issues in TWS are due to incorrect configurations directly in the third party vendor software. Commonly it is because the symbol is not enter correct or the parameters are not correct and the customer would need to contact there third party vendor directly for assistance.

In this case it is advised to contact Sierra Charts directly for additional assistance loading data for VIX Futures.
