They are both Buy Limit orders. So they are the same order type. When you buy at the Ask, it just simply means that the Limit order price is set to the current Ask price that Sierra Chart knows of. However, this does not guarantee a fill and the Ask price could quickly change by the time the order reaches the exchange. So no, there is no guarantee. The Ask price often is going to be changing. But the order price is fixed at whatever the Ask was at the time it was sent. If you really want to buy at the Ask, use a buy Market order.
