Dorian, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all the info you provided. It has helped me tremendously, and I went through all your old posts; your website is great, and I wish I could speak French. Over the weekend, I set up Process Lasso and allocated cores over the three separate installs. I ordered a cheap Quadro P4000 from eBay to get onto Nvidia Open GL drivers. My use is more charts/levels/multiple timeframes and tape reading across 20+ futures, so I prefer the Open GL enabled. My three instances already use up 3GB of vRAM, and I have more studies and charts to add, so I wanted the 8GB card (I also use PC for CaptureOne photo editing). I'm still on a 2017 B350 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard with 3600X, PCie3 and DDR4, 2x16GB 2R B-die @ 2933mhz, which is rock solid and stable at tight timing (but I can't get 3200 due either to the B350 or the 3600x). I have the main OS drive on a 1GB Samsung 970EVO on PCie3 x4 M2 connected to the CPU with 1 x Sierra Chart for Daily/Weekly/Monthly with slow update and 2 x Sierra Chart on a separate 250GB 960EVO on the chipset PCIe. However, I had to use an adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08VRN6PJS in a spare PCIe to add this second NVMe drive (limitation of the B350), so it's PCie Gen2 x 4 but it works just fine @ Read 1611MB/s, Write 1232MB/s, Random Read 259,521 IOPS, Random Write 241,455 IOPS and I use this drive for my fast update installs and alerts. I'm swapping out the 3600x to 5800x soon as a last upgrade, and I know the above system seems rubbish, but it works flawlessly with Sierra Charts for what I need with the order entry charts set at 80ms and the rest at 500ms and leaves more money for trading. I appreciate trading on DOM/Ladder with L2 data, nanosecond latency on news events or setting up automated trading, as well as trading high-end account NLV needs a whole new level of performance, so if I had the money and were trading at a higher level, I would upgrade it all. When I swap out the whole system, I will follow your recommendations on the CPU/Cores/Motherboard and drives. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-02-03 13:30:06
