There must be some other explanation for the problem. The historical Intraday and historical Daily data and Real-time data updates for the symbol have all been started and handled properly without any problem: Currently no data in file to display. When you change back to this symbol in a chart through the Associated Watch List or open a new chart for it, there will not be a new historical Intraday data download because there is no need to. The chart is already up to date and updating. It could be just that you have a misunderstanding of that. If it is not up to date, then a couple of reasons could be the Session Times are not set correctly or you are not scrolled to the end of the chart.
