You also need to consider the processing speed of the router/network switch between the computer, and the ISP line. It may not have enough processing power to handle the number of packets. This is something that is not often thought about. But probably often it is not relevant. We do not think it is relevant here. But just mentioning it in relation to the prior post. It is something that we consider, for the networking gear for our servers. These are specifications which are very important. Throughput in megabytes, and also packets per second. These specifications also vary based on packet size. We also recommend disabling, hyperthreading on the CPUs. This makes analyzing core usage easier. And may give you a little more power per thread.
