This is a general performance issue on your side. We cannot know what the cause is. Go through the items in help topic 30:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

Could also be caused by a filesystem issue. All kinds of things can be a problem.

Generally what we would recommend in this case is to not use your existing Chartbooks and just work with the symbols and charts that you need by opening a new ones.
