The first thing to keep in mind is that whatever Configuration Number has been selected for a drawing will remain selected until it is changed. So if you always want a green solid line and you do not use any other settings for your drawing, then choose a configuration number (typically 1) and change it to what you want and just ensure that the particular configuration number you choose is the selected on in "Tools >> Current Tool Config" when the Ray drawing is selected.

Otherwise, if you use multiple settings for your rays, then you need to setup the Configurations for the tool as you want them and then be sure to select the proper one for the drawing you will be doing. You can setup Control Bar buttons to select the drawing tool and a specific configuration number prior to drawing so you can then get what you are wanting. Refer to the following for this:
