******* Request ******* There is at least one other support thread on the subject of adding a text entry at a price level on the DOM (the separate DOM, not the one connected on a chart). As a scalper I watch the DOM for "things" such as large orders being filled at price in real time. Such events happen in a split second, but knowing these locations on the DOM provides information used in developing an edge. Jigsaw offers the scalper the ability to click on a cell in a note column on their DOM where the trader enters text. Text entries may be as simple as adding a single character such as * to denote the location of interest. I have seen others use words like Big Offer, Big Bid, Ice Berg, etc... The ability to do so with Sierra Charts has not been straight forward obvious. Others and I have requested this as a future feature. *********** Observation *********** I have a number of charts up while trading. I happened to activate the Stationary Draw tool on a chart the other day. When done and by design, the selected Draw Tool remains the active Draw Tool on all charts. To my surprise this also applies to studies on the DOM. My DOM has the Volume by Price study added to show a volume profile on the DOM. I noticed in the area that study is displayed on the DOM, with an active Stationary Text Draw Tool, I am able to add a Stationary Text entry that remains at the price level I click on in the volume profile display. Note the Draw Tool menu is not on the DOM, it must be activated from a separate chart, which is why I had never tried this before. This provides the basic functionality available in Jigsaw, but the text is displayed over top of the Volume Profile. This overlay is not bad, but could this capability be utilize to develop a focused solution for adding stationary text to the DOM? ***************** Possible Solution ***************** I wonder if there is a way to add/create an at-price-level study that does nothing other than automatically activate the Stationary Draw tool for that specific study area, providing the ability to add text at price in the area created for the study on the DOM (instead of overwriting the Volume Profile). I just wanted to pass on my findings using Stationary Draw tool in the DOM when the Volume by Price study is added and wonder if this approach could be utilized to provide a focused solution/study with this capability on the DOM. |
