Check to ensure that your Keyboard Shortcuts are still present for merging TPO profiles. Not being able to select a profile implies that the keyboard shortcuts are not setup. Also, we just tried this on version 2524 and it is working correctly - that is, as long as there is a keyboard shortcut setup, you can left click on a TPO profile and it will show as selected and you can then use that keyboard shortcut.
