for what it's worth, i recently got a ryzen 7900x because it seemed like the perfect fit for sierrachart - namely, 1) high base clock speeds 2) # of cores. the higher-tier 7950x has more cores but sierrachart doesn't really benefit much from anything more than 8 cores and the 7950x has a lower base clock speed than the 7900x perhaps due to the extra cores so i deliberately went with the 7900x instead. that being said, i still occasionally get lag on economic data releases at 50ms update interval so i can confidently say it's not a CPU problem. most likely it's some kind of internet problem but i'm not technical enough to know the specifics. when you set the chart update interval to something super low like 10-30ms and there's an economic release, it results in a sudden huge burst in packet data and whether this surge results in datafeed lag has less to do with your max internet speed imo, even if you're subscribed to gigabit internet. for low-chart-update-interval datafeed, cqg and rithmic are superior to denali but sc banned cqg data from their platform so sc users are SOL in this regard. |
