Regarding the issue of not seeing positions when using Interactive Brokers, the issue in your particular case is clear. You were using the wrong symbol. It needs to be exactly: MES-######-CME-USD Unless necessary, do not manually specify symbols when using Interactive Brokers and use the symbols only in File >> Find Symbol.
