Question 1:
How to start a new instance on the 2nd drive of the same computer? If you are wanting to have another instance of Sierra Chart on a different drive, then you need to install a second Sierra Chart in that location. There are no additional fees for this situation and everything will run fine. The only limitation to the number of installations on a single computer is that you can only get the Denali data to 3 separate installations at the same time. Refer to the following for how to install another Sierra Chart: Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time: Step-By-Step Instructions to Install Multiple Copies of Sierra Chart Question 2:
The following link says, "When using additional sub instances of Sierra Chart which is connected to a server instance either through File >> New Instance or as an independent instance using the DTC-Sub Instance Service in Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings, this allows for the distribution of processing load from chart updating and study calculations, among the CPU cores." Does it mean both procedures (from File>> New Instance or from Global Settings=> DTC-Sub instance) of creating another instance produce similar performance using multiple cores of the CPU? This is correct. When using either another installation, or the File >> New Instance, you are creating a separate execution of the Sierra Chart software that runs independently and can therefore take advantage of another core on the computer. The only difference between File >> New Instance and a separate installation is that when you select "New Instance" that instance is tied to the Main Instance and any trading and data processes through the main instance. Refer to the following for more information on "New Instance": Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance: Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
