Stop deleting your SCID files!

The dudes at OFL and your "repair guy" don't know what the fuck they are talking about. These files sitting there aren't going to be a problem unless you start running out of storage space. Further the size won't be the size on disk actually used unless you have disabled file compression. I have 123gb of SCID files that take up a total of 34gb of disk space as an example.

You can delete them for unused contracts sure, but caveat on that:
If you have some longer term charts that have Continuous Contract with either of the 'Back Adjusted' settings enabled you need to keep the relevant SCID files as well, or they will just get downloaded again.

e.g:
an ES hourly chart with a years worth of data, and Continuous Contract set to 'Date Rule Rollover - Back Adjusted' you are going to need to have all the SCID files from ESH22_FUT_CME.SCID through to ESM23_FUT_CME.SCID, otherwise Sierra will re-download the data.

Hope that explains why you shouldn't delete them.
