Post From: Is there any need to retain more than one scid data file for the same contract?

Dear Support

I currently route orders through CQG and as result Sierra Chart created the data files in the correct naming convention which was excellent.

However, as a result and for example using Gold, I seem to have both:

GCM21-COMEX.scid 257,55 KB
F.US.GCEM21.scid 257,55 KB

Clearly, if I change from CQG to another, or for that matter Teton, I would obviously want access to all existing previously downloaded .scid data files.

I have disk space to retain multiple copies but are all prior naming conventions retained, or even required?

So my questions are:

1) Does Sierra rename as required an existing data file when using another Trade Service that has specific naming conventions, or does Sierra create a duplicate data file with the new naming convention whilst retaining the original?
2) I realise both files hold the same data but that doesn't automatically mean the earlier version is safe to delete. Can I delete the pre-CQG .scid data files without compromising future changes.
3) What happens when I change to Teton?

Simple question but clarification for peace of mind would be very helpful.

Many thanks.
