We are quite sure this is not going to be usually reproducible or a typical occurrence:

Whenever a Study Price/Overlay from a faster chart is placed on a slower one, it pins at least one core and slows down everything in SC.

There is something unusual going on in your particular case. Check the Window >> Message Log and see if there are any messages which are indicating a full recalculation of the destination chart.
