What you are referring to is a color/appearance template. You would be surprised at how many settings a chart actually holds. Colors is only a small subset of them. We tend to suspect that most of our users will use the global color settings to configure the colors as they require and once they are done, they do not really change them much. And if they need to do something special color wise for one or two charts, they can set the colors individually for an individual chart. And our focus is not really on fancy appearances because many of these kinds of items can hurt performance. Such as transparency.
