In general, when a value of zero exists, it is not drawn. This keeps the chart within the normal range of the data. Otherwise, when 0 values are drawn, then the range of the display has to start at 0 at the bottom and then display the data to the full range, which generally makes the bars flat and not useful. Therefore, the show zeros is a special circumstance that you would only use if you were basing that study on another study where show zero values can be useful and would not cause an issue with the scaling.
