In my pursuit of the quickest Linux (as measured with typometer) I've ended up a long way from Mint. Sierrachart seems happy and the 66/s6 Arch DWM Xterm combo is lightning fast. I also can recommend dwm (https://dwm.suckless.org/). It's super lightweight window manager and very fast. I am using st terminal which also is a suckless type app ie. simple but versatile enough, very lightweight and fast. All written in C language like the Linux kernel itself so you can expect the code be very efficient.
