1)Do I need to use two instances of sierra chart (one for one timeframe and one for the other) and connect each instance to IB through data/trade service settings, also changing the second instance "Instance Client ID"?
No. However, if you have two charts both auto trading the same symbol in the same account, you could have problems if you are not careful. 2)How can I tell each instance of sierra which of the two IB accounts to send the trades to? Do I have to attach trade window to chart and select the account there or is there another way to do this? Since the strategy is fully automated, I wan't planning on having a trade window.
Yes, you select the IB account through the Trade Window, which does not need to be attached to the chart, and you can close it when done making the selection. Note that the different accounts must belong to the same IB username. Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Trade Account (Selecting Trade Account for Chart / Trade DOM) 3)Might be a silly question, but I assume trades will only be sent as long as BOTH SC and TWS are running? This means leaving the computer on 24/7.
I believe IB requires TWS to be running to use SC. Regardless, your PC needs to be running for autotrade to work. 4) Lastly, I will still be using SC to look at other symbols that I manually trade. For obvious reasons, I prefer to use SC data feed. Even though I am using SC data feed, do I still have to obide by IB's backwards symbol methodology as I am connected to them through data/trade service settings? And the data is still from SC and not IB, right?
You can trade through IB and use the Denali data feed. See this post: Your experiences with Interactive Brokers | Post: 206291 You can also install Sierra Chart in another folder and use the SC Data feed. |
