first of all thank you for actually answering my rant. i am really pissed right now, however i am sorry for the choice of words lets take a step back and look what the actual issue is. see both attached chartbooks. which suffer from the same issue. the stocks chartbook has like 500 Stocks in it with a watchlist and the FX chartbook maybe has 100 symbols in it. Every other day i go through each and every one of the entire list and do the following: 1. check if i need to change chart drawings 2. put in or cancel orders i made with IB for the stocks chartbooks i used the "normal stock symbols" and not the IB ones. Maybe that was a mistake but this way the entire chartbook would work with every other data vendor i might use. However, with this chart book i have the issue that - once i closed and reopen Sierra - i can not see any order anymore cause Sierra uses the IB symbology for those orders. So in order to be able to see the orders i would have to update every symbol in the watchlist to IB symbology. however, i can not do that or i would lose all my chart drawings.. those are worth months of work! for the FX chartbook however, i started using the IB symbology and drew all my drawings. However, now you guys decided to drop support for it and i am stuck with the same issue, just reverse. Now you want me to use a "non datafeed" symbol for charting and the datafeed symbol for the order process. to salvage my drawings from the stocks chartbook i had the idea of doing exactly that, i wanted to use the "trade symbol" and it seemed to kinda work at first. However, it does not really work with using an associated watchlist because some symbols do not require a trade symbol (the futures mainly) and also some stocks do not require that (for mystical reasons). So - apart from the PITA adding like 1000 additional symbols to the Symbolinfo - i still couldnt use that functionality because when changing the symbol via watchlist it wont change the trade symbol so i would put in the orders for the wrong instrument! All workarounds are impractical coz i do not use maybe 2 symbols for may chart and wont change them. i cycle through the 600 instruments in like 4 hours - usually. And finally, if you need to look to an alternative for Sierra Chart, that is perfectly fine with us. Here it is we are doing what is right and correct, and we are only getting complaints.
maybe (just maybe) you are only getting complaints coz it might be right for you but not your users? i know, its a crazy idea.. but just a thought.. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-12-30 13:53:54
