Sorry to be taking your time but I really would like to understand what the capabilities of SC are and what the development intentions are. I would have thought the intentions for QuoteBoards included the following: 1) Display data about many instruments in a tabular form. 2) Support links to charts and/or other trading tools. 3) Allow sorting and even filtering. 4) Allow importing and exporting of symbol lists and data 5) Support spreadsheet formulas. 6) Support ASCIL ability to display and interact with cells. What I do not think is that any of these capabilities should change because of where the data comes from. Much of the appeal of the SC platform is its ability to bring in data from different sources. Running separate instances of SC purely for the purpose of interfacing with an external data feed seems like a great approach. By keeping up one little window it is possible to monitor each feed in its own process. But that does not change the fact that one wants to sit in front of and interact with the instance that is doing the trading. Your statement from another post indicated that even if you supported remote symbols in QuoteBoards, it would never be on a symbol by symbol basis but only by assigning an entire QuoteBoard to a remote instance. This may be a development reality, but it is a poor design choice from a trader point of view. Traders want to set up their tables and charts according to what they want to monitor, not according to the data source. If you want to design a system that is good for traders (and future development for that matter), the QuoteBoards, charts, and any other trading tools would not know the source of the data. Thanks for your time. If, as you say, I am not using QuoteBoards as intended, please explain how they are intended to be used. How are other people using them? How do other people want to use them? |
