Every chart has a spreadsheet study attached, for 2 purposes. 1) To plot lines on the charts based on calculations performed in the spreadsheet. 2) To capture data from some of the studies installed on the charts. I get this by having a summary sheet which just collates data from the other sheets in the same file. I then copy this data over to Excel for the heavy duty number crunching. Previously my SC spreadsheets were a lot more complex with a lot of INDEX and MATCH formulas, but I stopped that and moved it all to Excel. Did not help the problem. I am not a programmer, so this may be off the mark, but I have used SC for some time so I would like to share my observation and make a suggestion which might help solve the problem somewhat. When I first started using SC, if an installation had 3 chartbooks open, tabs for all 3 spreadsheet files were visible. Later this changed to just the spreadsheet file attached to the active chartbook, with the others being hidden. The problem started from sometime after this. When closing all chartbooks, we have the option to select "Save All", which saves the chartbooks. Then one after the other, the dialogue box pops up asking if we want to save a single spreadsheet. It is always at this point, when the pop up is happening, that SC crashes. So, my guess is that during the pop up process, whatever conflict happens. Suggestion: Would it help if we had the option to "Save All Spreadsheets" that appears if we select Close All Chartbooks? That way only a single pop up. I know this will not help the crashes that happen when I am closing single chartbooks, but it would in any case be an enhancement for ease of use for everyone. Also, don't know if this is relevant, but I have SC installed on the C drive along with all other programmes, but the Data folders are on the D drive, because the data files will get progressively larger and I want to keep the C drive lean. On my previous computer the C and D drives were on the same physical HDD, on my current PC C drive is a SSD and D drive is a HDD. |
