If you have 20 charts and each chart between the graphics and the calculations takes about 100 ms to calculate and draw , then this would mean that in order to have a responsive user interface you would need to use a Chart Update Interval of 2000. However most of the load is from graphics and if not all of the charts are visible, at the same time, then the load of those nonvisible charts is going to be below 100 ms. So therefore the maximum needed interval would be 2000 in this particular scenario. In other words you would not need to use an interval that low necessarily.
