If you are trading through Sierra Chart, then you do need to stay connected to Trader Workstation. But even when getting disconnected from TWS, the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed data will still continue to be received so long as you have enabled: Data/Trade Service Settings: Reconnect on Failure (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings) But this really is not relevant because Sierra Chart is not losing the connection to TWS. TWS is losing the connection to its own servers. 1) When using SC real time, the historical data for intraday charts and historical charts comes from the SC data feed...nothing comes from IB, correct? Yes if the symbol is for one of the exchanges you have activated with the data feed.2) quotes do not travel from SC to TWS so the quotes and charts in IB are not to do with the SC data feed, correct? Sierra indeed does not depend on this connection to do anything, correct? Yes this is correct.
