User35525 But by using Sierra technology, we get an edge that other retail traders don't have:
SierrChart is the WinApp and SC Team is the win_programmers_team since 1996 :) -- better performance. Linux has about 30% better performance on similar hardware as Windows.
SierrChart is the graphics package. So the answer is "No". The graphics performance on Windoze is much better than on Linux/Wine. and won't be worried about Windows malware. 90% of malware is probably Windows based, as most exploits affect Windows OS.
Because of 99% users. Plus, Microsoft won't be spying on my anymore.
NSA is one of main developers for linux kernel/crypto subsystem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security-Enhanced_Linux :) It's my understanding that once all the non-CLR code supports the SC FIX engine, then that will help with stability and the 100% Linux version can be released later.
At this moment of time the only service in a production state is TT FIX. CTS T4 FIX has a number of problems and CTS does not solve them as quick as they should because of 99%. -- I bet 90% of traders are losing too, and many aren't using Sierra Chart, and don't care about automating strategies, or performance. They're happy with buggy and resource-hungry NinjaTrader and other inferior solutions. They probably don't care about security and stability and are happy with Windows. Ignorance is bliss.
Yes. Ninjatrader == Xbox. This is exactly what I meant. :) And this is the reality. Hopefully Sierra will supplement their market data feed with API support so we can connect from Python, C, etc and benefit from Sierra technology. I'm hoping for an execution API too, so we can bypass the SC client for execution and use whatever language we wish. Also on my wish list, MORE/BETTER NON-TRIVIAL ACSIL EXAMPLES FOR TRADE MANAGEMENT.
