Now, having posted the above post it triggered in my brain how to achieve what I want. If you are using pattern matching then Custom is not what you want. Instead you want to edit the Interactive Brokers symbol settings for ES in globalsettings.xml. You do not want to create a separate, new symbol settings for the Rithmic ES However, I did use "<realtime-data-client>Generic_Sub_Clients</realtime-data-client>" to make this work.
