Regular spot GBP/USD isn't available for trading on the weekend either on LMAX or in SC. My guess is LMAX chose to create additional symbol for the weekend trading because there can be different market maker(s) providing liquidity just over the weekend. For example, regular GBP/USD closes on Friday and opens on Sunday evening with just 5 pip gap while "GBP/USD (weekend)" makes 100 pips between Saturday and Sunday. In this way volatility on "GBP/USD (weekend)" doesn't affect volatility on GBP/USD, at the same time "GBP/USD (weekend)" provides opportunity to trade on the weekend. So it really is different symbol. |
