Post From: Relative lines on a chart

I have a simple futures chart with an overlay from another chart. The scale settings for the overlay is set to "independent."

I'm trying to understand how positioning of the overlay is performed so I can use that information in another calculation or alert. For instance, I can see visually when the line for the overlay crosses the line (or candlesticks) of the charted instrument. But how do I represent that for an alert? Another example of the same underlying question is if I want to use the Color Bar Based on Alert if the overlay is above the price line, how would that be represented?

I'm not asking about basics of an alert, just how (or whether) the relative positioning of the overlay can be used in an alert.

Thanks!
