Post From: Need Term Structure (Forward Strip?) Chart!

Thanks very much for the prompt reply! Navigating to the symbol from the tree (rather than typing it) did indeed change the behavior, but frankly not in a terribly useful way. Please see attached what I am seeing now. Here are my concerns: 1. In default OHLC Bar view, the bars don't make sense on this type of chart. Per your instructions, I did change to line-on-close (hence this result), but frankly I don't want or have use for a line-on-close chart. I need a series of dots showing my the last or settle price for each contract. 2. It is essential to be able to display multiple curves as of different dates. This appears to only allow display of the CURRENT forward strip, with no ability to compare it to the strip that existed on a prior date. Respectfully, this chart is not useful with this limitation. Is there a way to display multiple curves (for different closing dates), and if so how do I do it? If not, do you want help designing something useful? I don't mean to be sarcastic - I'm totally serious. I'm a former software engineer and would be happy to do a detailed design for something much better if you have sincere interest in doing it. But if this is a feature that your other users are not asking for and therefore not a priority, I understand and respect your choice, but I don't want to waste my time and energy designing something better unless you have a sincere interest in implementing it. With all due respect, this function is not useful in its current form, unless I am missing something and there is a way to choose something other than line-on-close and to display multiple settlement dates simultaneously, as in the sample I sent you from IB in the OP. In case it is not clear, the way an analyst uses this chart is to visualize how the term structure is evolving over time. Without curves showing the term structure on prior dates, the function really isn't useful. Thanks in advance, Erik |
