For the long Chartbook or chart load time, refer to help topic 30 here: Http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails30.html The reason you are losing the connection is because Sierra Chart is busy with processing when changing the timeframe of the chart bars from daily to weekly. However, that should not take long to do. Apparently, there is some study on the chart causing this. Help topic 30 will help with this. The best approach to this issue is to close all of your Chartbooks and charts and start completely fresh with a single chart and gradually build up your setup to determine where the problem is. This could also be caused by antivirus and anti-malware software.
